My "Alabama" Perfumes
True Romance is a fantastic flick. Patricia Arquette plays the character of Alabama Whitman-Worley and Quentin Tarantino wrote the screenplay.
Alabama Whitman has been a hooker, I mean a call girl, because Alabama insists there’s a difference, for exactly four days when she meets her third customer, Clarence Worley (Christian Slater), and falls in love.
Alabama is a down on her luck gal with a kind heart who's full of spunk and feist. True Romance isn’t exactly your typical boy meets girl affair – but aside from the stealing, killing, violence, gangsters, pimps and drugs, it’s one of the best love stories, ever.
But I digress. I just wanted you to understand why I call these my Alabama Worley scents. Occasionally I don’t want to wear something discreet, understated, cerebral, neutral or soft – and these times call for my "Alabama" scents.
Top 12 Alabama Scents:
Bond No. 9 Broadway Nite
Dior Addict
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower
Givenchy Amarige
Guerlain Insolence edp
Guerlain Shalimar
Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum
Kenzo Amour
Miller Harris Noix de Tuberose
Monyette Paris
Thierry Mugler Alien
Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll
Quotes from the movie:
"I'm gonna go jump in the tub and get all slippery and soapy and then hop in that waterbed and watch X-rated movies 'till you get your ass back in my lovn' arms."
- Alabama Whitman-Worley
"Please shut up! I'm trying to come clean, okay? I've been a call-girl for exactly four days and you're my third customer. I want you to know that I'm not damaged goods. I'm not what they call Florida white trash. I'm a good person and when it comes to relationships, I'm one-hundred percent, I'm one hundred percent... monogamous." - Alabama Whitman-Worley
Does everyone have Alabama perfume days or is it just me?

Sweet home Alabama-
Where the skies are so blue-
Sweet home, Alabama
Lord I'm comin' home to you....
Enjoy, baby.
Isn't that one of the best songs?!
I'm having an Alabama day today - wearing Dior Addict ;-0
If I were going Alabama, I might pick off the shelf...
* Goutal Songes
* that Amarige you already mentioned
* Shalimar (hey, it's classic, and I love it, but it does push a bit) ((oh, wait, you mentioned that, too))
* Guerlain Champs Elysses (after all, I've got a big bottle since it came cheap...that's kind of part of the style, right?)
* Caron Parfum Sacre (like Shalimar, I wouldn't have thought of it as 'Alabama' until I read your post...but there it is)
However, I'm going to diverge and keep my Kenzo Amour off the Alabama list. That stays firmly in my 'comfort' division. :)
ScentScelf,
OK, you can keep Kenzo Amour in your comfort division ;-) but know that if you wear enough of it, it kinda sneaks over into the loud/trashy corner! Now I'm not recommending you wear too much, of course. We shouldn't upset the non-perfumistas out there (those poor lost souls).
Love this! I loved Alabama when this movie came out. Amazing character. And your post makes me realize I need more Alabama scents. I'd say Fracas and Gap Velvet Bloom would both make good Alabama scents. But gosh, I need more than just two, right???
Oh, Aimee, you definitely need more than 2!
Wasn't Alabama Worley just the greatest character? Do you remember the scene in the hotel room when Alabama is alone and a thug tries to kill her and she fights him with every inch of her life? That scene was disturbing and scary but she was so brave and plucky. And, it turns out, that thug was James Gandolfini...
Anyway, I *almost* put Fracas on my list but waffled because that one has a bit of 'class' dontcha think? It surely is loud, though. ;-)
Oh, you must have put your finger right on the Kenzo Amour situation...I've got one of the cute little bottles, and hardly ever use it...
...am now prepared to get a FB if it ever "goes Alabama" for me. ;)
P.S. Fracas is a mess on me. Beyond Alabama. I think...Raising Arizona.
ScentScelf,
Raising Arizona, LOL! :-)
